FIELD NOTE 01 / BUYING EXPOSURE

What is a product listing
actually worth?

Start with what a customer is worth to you. Then ask whether the audience, price, and measurement justify an advertising experiment.

Work backward from a useful outcome.

One-time advertising spend only makes business sense against your own contribution per customer: revenue minus delivery, payment, support and expected refund costs. Avoid using a full subscription’s theoretical lifetime value before you have actual retention data.

Your break-even experiment

Modelled clicks needed to cover this spend:

63 outbound clicks

Formula: ceiling(budget ÷ (contribution × conversion rate)). At $25, $20 contribution and 2% conversion, that is ceiling(62.5) = 63. These inputs are examples, not observed SpotSprig conversion rates. No click volume is promised.

Know what the position means.

SpotSprig’s sponsored board ranks by eligible verified advertising spend. It does not rank product quality, independent reviews, popularity, or suitability for your needs. An advertiser can move above you after you pay. Two identical budgets are ordered by listing creation time, then listing ID. Today’s board counts only eligible captures within the current UTC day.

Measure an experiment before repeating it.

  1. Use a dedicated campaign URL, such as UTM parameters, and decide a maximum loss you can afford. Do not put customer information or tokens in that URL.
  2. Record actual qualified sessions and conversions in your own analytics, with the consent appropriate to your setup. Our coarse click counts are not unique visitors, verified humans or sales attribution.
  3. Calculate actual acquisition cost and compare it with contribution from paying customers. Low-volume outcomes are noisy; record the denominator as well as the sales.
  4. Stop adding spend if the audience is irrelevant or the evidence does not support another test. A position is a purchased placement, not an investment return.

Why a paid link is labelled.

Paid outbound links are marked Sponsored and carry rel="sponsored ugc nofollow". Google identifies sponsored as the appropriate attribute for advertisements and paid placements. We do not sell ranking credit, guaranteed indexing, or dofollow backlinks. A link attribute also does not turn an unhelpful directory into useful content; each listing still needs an honest description and a relevant destination.

Before buying: Review our ranking rules, delivery and refund terms, and available audience evidence. If you need guaranteed exposure, clicks or sales, this placement does not provide them.
